December Update -- 2020

Greetings in the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ!  We're pleased to share with you the wonderful things the Lord has been doing in our lives and ministry.

Family: In November we celebrated Thanksgiving with Bible reading (Ps 136), prayer, giving thanks to God, and a delicious dinner. Both Charity and Hope had to work that day, but they were able to be home in time for our turkey dinner.

Jennifer's finger is still causing pain and discomfort, and needs continued healing.

Ministry: As we continue to administer our discipleship training school (DTS), we'd like to update you on the good things that God is doing with it. By the grace of God, we currently have disciples in five nations including Uganda, Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, and South Africa.

Len received the following email from brother Tom who is a pastor in Uganda and a Second Year DTS student:

"Praise God. I am brother Tom from Uganda. I am so blessed by this great school. This time has been so powerful for such interesting and anointing courses I have ever taken. I have not remained the same.

May the good Lord keep you and your family well. Blessing in Jesus name."

Brother Tom later informed Len that he was away on a ministry trip, serving at a camp for refugees from South Sudan. He was spending a few weeks there, and found that the article Len wrote on Islam and shared with him was timely, because the refugees are all Muslims. Here is what he had to say:

"Dear Len,

Thanks a lot for your post on How to Reach a Muslim with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. 

It was a little bit challenging when I began ministering to these Sudanese, because most of them are Moslims. Immediately [after] I got these resources [from you], things normalised.

The only challenge I have is the interpretation of my communication to them -- they speak Arabic. Only one person is helping to translate... 

May the Lord keep you safe."

He later wrote:

"Greetings in the name of Jesus Christ. I am remaining with one week [left at the Sudanese refugee camp], and [then] I return home to continue with my church ministry...

 

I have preached to many people within the camp and outside. Many have received Christ as their Lord and personal Saviour. So far the churches within the camp have [grown] to five. One new church is going to be opened next Sunday and a church pastor will be introduced to the members.

To tell the truth, these refugee Christians are so green about spirituality. It takes God's intervention. They are so rude,bitter, easily angered, and wild radically (physical). 

My appeal to you Sir: The effort  needed in this camp is so big that two or three people cannot manage.

There are a total of up to fifty two NGOs (Non-Governmental Organizations) running their different programmes, but Pentecostal ministers are very few. If there are people who can help us do this ministry, l request them through you [for them] to come and evangelise in this isolated place.

God bless you."

In November, Len received the following email from brother James in Uganda, a pastor there who is now in his final quarter of DTS training. This was in response to Len asking him to be specific about all the unreached people groups he was engaging. He stated:

Hello brother Len,

Greetings ,am sorry for the delay .This was occasioned by numerous engagements, because I was meeting the Nubian communities. I returned yesterday.

I have reached the Meneng which are more in South Sudan than in Uganda. The Karamojong and Dodoth I have reached, because I speak the same language with them. I have  reached and am going to reach the Pokoth this December, too. 

I just returned yesterday from reaching the Nubian community in Bombo, Uganda, and seventy-two of them received Jesus Christ .All these new converts need Bibles. I do reach Aringa; so far, one church has been planted in the Aringa community. These are the people we have reached so far. The request [that all of them] keep bringing is they want Bibles. I hope you find these responses satisfying.

Praise the Lord for that good report. Len also put James in touch with the Jesus Film Project here in the US, and he has applied for the projector and other equipment he needs in order to show the Jesus Film in the remote places he goes to bring the gospel to the unreached, including Muslims. The Jesus Film Project is able to give such resources for free to those who qualify, and priority is given to those who are ministering to unreached people groups. Let's pray James will be granted those resources.

Brother Sam Okiror in Uganda is one of our students currently in his Second Year of DTS. In November he requested prayer for a health problem of the spine, as he has gotten an MRI and the radiologist has rendered a diagnosis. He is currently bed-ridden and unable to walk. 

We don't need to accept man's diagnosis, because we serve a miracle-working God with whom all things are possible. There is no disease he cannot heal. Please join us in lifting up Sam in prayer for his healing. 

In December, Len received the following email from brother Grace in Uganda:

"Hi dear brother Len,

I want to thank the Lord for DTS and the message you just sent of "How to Reach a Muslim for Christ"! Just yesterday a Muslim man came to our altar, and after a lengthy sharing, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviour! Glory to Him!

We are pleased to announce that brother Grace, who is a pastor in Uganda and due to graduate from DTS in three months, is now our Uganda National DTS Facilitator. Please join us in congratulating him. 

More DTS Testimonies

Len received the following email in December from brother Charles a pastor in Uganda who is a third-year DTS student:

"Hello Bro Len,

Am doing well, sir, and the Lord has been faithful to us. Am grateful that am impacted daily through this course. It has tremendously helped me to have deeper understanding of scriptures.

Have a great week.

Charles"

In December, Len received the following email from brother Stephen in Nigeria (photo below), who is a first year DTS student. He wrote:

"Greetings in Jesus name,

Glory to God one Mr Adamu from Bauchi state Nigeria formally a Muslim gave his life to Jesus, now with me putting him through the Word. Please pray along with him because his family have not known [about] his decision [for Christ]. Now he has two sons he wants to carry along with him to Gombe state where we are now with him."

This is wonderful news! Let's join with brother Stephen in prayer for him about this secret move to Gombe state with his two sons. Hallelujah! There is more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over 99 righteous people who don't need to repent!! Glory to God!!

We have also recently enrolled brother Stephen's wife Daniel (pictured above with him). She is twenty years old, and came to the Lord ten years ago after participating in a Bible lesson about the love of Jesus for her. She enrolled in the DTS in order to become a disciple of Christ. Please join us in praying that she will achieve her goal. 

In December, our first student from South Africa enrolled in the DTS. Her name is Dorcas (pictured left), and she states the reason she has enrolled in our school is: "I want to have the knowledge of Christ more in my life and I want to serve and I want Him to use me in this end time." 

We also had another new student in Uganda named Sam (pictured above) enroll, who was referred to us by brother Grace. He is thirty-eight years old and came to know the Lord seven years ago. Here is his testimony:

"In 2013 there was a crusade in [the] Soroti public gardens. I attended it and got touched by the message of love of our Lord Jesus and I believed."

Sam's stated reason for enrolling is "to have fellowship with others and learn more of God's Word." 

We look forward to serving Sam, Dorcas, and Daniel over the next three years.

Len sent out his monthly edition of Old News That's Still Fresh in December to pastors, elders, and laborers in the harvest in the US, Europe, Australia, Africa, and Asia.

3. For the new assignment that brother Grace has accepted as our Uganda National DTS Facilitator.
4. For the new students who have enrolled in the DTS -- Dorcas, Daniel, and Sam.
5. For the opportunity to assist each of our students in becoming disciples of Christ and fulfilling their callings. 
6. For the Lord's leading, guidance, and help administering the Doulos Training School (DTS), and for the progress the students are making.
7. For the lives being touched for Christ around the world through our writing ministry.

Next steps and prayer needs:

1. For the Lord to heal Jennifer's finger.
2. For the Lord to heal Faith and Len from eczema.
3. For the Lord to provide for all the needs of our DTS students in the hardships they're experiencing due to the lockdown, especially those in dire need in Uganda. 
4. For the Lord to heal Sam and miraculously raise him up from his sick bed.
5. For the Lord to provide Bibles and a Jesus Film Projector for brother James to use in his outreach to the unreached people groups in his region.
6. For the Lord to assist all our DTS students in any life challenges they may be experiencing.
7. For the Lord to assist us with the administration of the Doulos Training School (DTS), as well as develop through it many disciples who multiply disciples. 
8. For the Lord to help all of our DTS students to find LTG partners (another Christian to meet with weekly for discipleship in a Life Transformation Group), and help them finish all their course work for the current quarter by the end of this month. 
9. For the Lord to fulfill His purposes for us and our ministry.
10. For the Lord to raise up new faith partners, and for Him to provide for all our needs -- not only ours personally, but also those of the ministry.
