Greetings in the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ! We're pleased to share with you the wonderful things the Lord has been doing in our lives and ministry.
Ministry: As we continue to administer our discipleship training school (DTS), now in its tenth year, we'd like to update you on the good things that God is doing with it. By the grace of God, we currently have disciples actively training in four nations including Kenya, South Sudan, and Uganda.
As mentioned in our December update, we are working closely with three of our graduates in South Sudan, Uganda, and Nigeria, as they labor in the harvest, in order to follow up with the people who recently came to Christ in their outreaches. This is a period of baptizing new believers, teaching and discipling them, organizing them into Life Transformation Groups for discipleship, baptizing them in water, praying for them to receive the baptism with the Holy Spirit and fire, praying for deliverance for those who need it, establishing fellowships, and eventually planting churches and appointing elders. Their testimonies of what God is doing are found at the following links, a few highlights of which we'll share below in this newsletter:
Uganda Highlights
"Greetings dear brother Len in Jesus' Name!
I thank God for the gift of life, and for healing me; I recovered fully after you prayed for me!
In our phase II work this week, we have moved in three different locations; meanwhile I'm in touch with sister Betty, sister Miracle, and brother Francis about our Kampala discipleship. I hope to reach them sooner or later.
1. In Pingire Serere, a fellowship is fully functional at brother David Ouma's home. The LTGs are operational and baptisms have been conducted. It's wonderful to know brother David received and welcomed the fellowship with his wife, his children; Esther, Caro, Alex, Akello, and other community members. Only that brother David has been sick for long, blindness due to pressure. He needs our prayers.
2. Alitmon in Awawal of Kalaki the fellowship is growing with more people coming to the Lord; LTGs are being observed. One of the nearby village leaders of Aloet, named Sam Ewinyu, came and knelt down in our fellowship and gave his life to the Lord. He had previously been a staunch Catholic. He asked us to extend the fellowship to his home.
3. While in Awoja, one bridge before you reach Soroti, in our phase II, three more people gave their lives to the Lord; Rose, Patrick, and his wife Mary. Rose had been having stomach pains for over 4 months, but was healed yesterday during deliverance prayers. An old woman, Dina, also got healed of waist pain. This fellowship is hosted at the home of Rose. Her daughter Caro had no job for over 10 years, but after she received prayer, she has testified in our phase II visit that God has done a miracle of a job offer to her.
Blessings dear brother,
Br Grace."
Praise the Lord! Brother Grace has informed us that they are holding elections on Thursday, January 16th. The internet has been shut down during this time, which seems like an intentional move by the government, since the incumbent president who seized power in 1986 has been in office for forty years and is running for president again this year. Please stand in agreement with us in prayer for the Lord to restore the internet across Uganda at this time, and for the Lord's will to be done concerning their elections.
South Sudan Highlights
The Lord is doing amazing things in Brother Henry's ministry in South Sudan. He is seeing rapid growth in the church he pastors. Many people are seriously committing their lives to Jesus and being transformed. One woman who was a drug addict and alcoholic got saved and has become a serious intercessor. One man had been the leader of one of the most dangerous gangs in that country, and he is now radically saved, despite retaliation, attack, and threats from the other gang leaders who are angry that he left the gang. A young lady also got saved, after which her family turned on her and began persecuting her, beating her, and denying her the ability to continue her education; but she is continuing on with Jesus even if she is never again allowed to receive an education. Other things like that are also happening.
Here is one of brother Henry's most recent updates:
"Dear bro Len,
There's a great move of God in South Sudan, as I am doing my best to finalize with phase two, one of the members who has been attending the discipleship class, had been working with the prostitutes for a very long time. And as her life got transformed through discipleship, she confessed to me this, and told me that they had a prophet who still exists. This prophet was anointing them with false anointing oil according to me in order to get customers (men to sleep with them). Then whenever they could get the money, an offering was given to the fake prophet in order to get more customers. When she gave her life to Jesus during our missions, the woman who was acting as their boss in that business was looking for her seriously. She said that friends told her if the information reaches their prophet, then I will have problem, because I am the one who has confused her. But I thank God, because right now more two from the same group have already given their lives to Jesus.
Your servant,
Bro Henry."
Hallelujah! Praise the Lord for what He is doing in brother Henry's ministry.
Nigeria Highlights
Brother John in Nigeria shared the following praise report in January:
"By the mercy of God, the Phase II work is experiencing steady progress. The disciples are multiplying day by day. Those attending our fellowship are becoming more serious, and the hunger to witness to others has grown significantly in most of them.
"Some people are now willingly calling us and inviting us to their homes, and we are open and ready to accept these invitations. Discipleship training is actively ongoing in all the centers we have formed, with elders already in place to provide leadership and oversight.
"The baptism of the Holy Spirit has taken place in the lives of many disciples, and we thank God for His continued move among us.
Warm regards,
Bro John."
Glory to God. Please join us in prayer support for what God is doing through brothers John, Grace, and Henry in Africa.
More Testimonies
You may recall the teen boy named Sina in Turkey that we previously reported on, who was deaf and had a cochlear device implanted to restore his hearing. We received a praise report in December about him from Mary, our contact in Turkey. She wrote:
"We had a meal at our church on Thursday evening and Sina and his family were also invited, so we had a chance to take a few pictures and make a short video. In the video, you can see that Sina can hear and chat very easily now. We are talking Turkish, and he speaks it very well, and near the end he says 'Thank you' to those who helped him. He and his family are very happy with the device.
"Tomorrow afternoon we have an event for Christmas in a culture centre, open to the public, similar to the one where Elham first met Marina. Please pray for us, that many people will attend and hear about the Lord. This is one of the rare occasions that we can do outreach in a public place, with people we would be unlikely to meet otherwise.
"Greetings from Çanakkale
Mary"
